iFEM08 / Inari / Ivalo / 05-07.09.08
Over the first weekend of September 2008, a group of musicians and film-makers will gather in the far north of Finland for the third Inari Festival of Experimental Music. Artists from Finland, Lithuania, the US, Greece and the UK will perform over three evenings, while on the Saturday afternoon a boat trip around Lake Inari will conclude with a concert on one of the larger islands. On the Sunday afternoon, there will be a showing of videos and short films at the cinema in Ivalo. iFEM is slowly establishing itself as a small but intense festival, as much a seminar for artists and audience to interact as a series of discrete concerts. Gradually, largely by word of mouth, people are beginning to hear about this festival, this strange mixture of relaxation and intense experiment in the late summer, in the remote northern wastes of Finland, and we are certain that the success of the last couple of years will be continued and augmented in 2008.
Artists include Pekka Airaksinen and Anton Nikkilä (Finland)Bandoek (οε, οε, οεοεοε ) (Greece/Finland), Patrick Beveridge (UK), Dorableu (USA/Canada), Haare (Finland), Tommi Keränen (Finland), Pekka Kumpulainen (Finland), Pink Twins (Finland), twentytwentyone (Lithuania), Simon Wickham-Smith (UK).
